Making Classic Beef Stroganoff

So easy you can do it any night of the week.

Box mix dinners are really not as healthy as your doctor would like with all that salt. So, you're invited to have a seat and join me as I make a classic beef stroganoff dinner, at home. It doesn't really take much longer than a box mix, by the time you cook the meat and by the time it takes to simmer the sauce. It is almost as easy to make as most box mixes, and if you follow my steps, it requires a lot less salt, which makes it healthier.

One of the first things I almost always do is use Low Sodium or Sodium Free broths, whether it is Chicken, Beef, or Vegetable, I prefer to use no salt and add as much as I want. It's always easier to put the salt shaker on the table than to apologize for the food being too salty. I also find it tends to need more black pepper at serving as well.

Ingredients

1 1/ 2 pounds ground beef

1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms

1/2 medium onion, diced

3 - 4 Cloves garlic, minced

2 Tbsp butter

3/4 cup beef broth

1/4 cup of cooking sherry

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/8 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup sour cream

2 cups cooked egg noodles

Steps

1 Brown ground beef, add Worcestershire sauce. Drain well and remove cooked ground beef from the pan, set aside.

2 In the same pan used to cook the ground beef. Cook mushrooms, onions, and garlic in butter over medium heat stirring often until onions are tender. Add the salt and pepper to taste. Add the Sherry to deglaze the pan. Stir in the broth, add the all-purpose flour heat to boiling, cook for at least 30 seconds to cook out the flour taste.

3 Add back the ground beef, mix well. And simmer for a minute or two.

4 Stir in sour cream; heat until hot (do not boil, because the sour cream). Serve over noodles.

As you can see it doesn't take a lot of time to make so it is perfect to make any night of the week.

If you live in a small apartment or dorm with a small kitchen or even no kitchen, don't worry you can still do this, either use an electric frying pan or electric skillet, if you want you can also use an electric hotplate or induction burner, will work as well.

You don't have one? Here are a few Amazon links to some kitchen items. Some are actually to the exact same product I have and know I can trust.
